Cal Newport
Cal Newport is a computer science professor at Georgetown University and a New York Times bestselling author who writes about the impact of technology on society and the deep struggles knowledge workers face in their quest to work effectively.
He is the author of seven books, including Deep Work, Digital Minimalism, and A World Without Email, which have been published in over 35 languages. Newport is also a regular contributor to the New Yorker, the New York Times, and Wired, and is a frequent guest on NPR.
Newport's work focuses on the intersection of technology and society, particularly how technological tools and trends affect our ability to do valuable work, lead satisfying lives, and connect meaningfully with others.
He earned his Ph.D. in computer science from MIT in 2009, and is a tenured professor of computer science at Georgetown University. His academic research focuses on the theory of distributed systems.
